A forty minute story-telling escapade for the very young: Touchstone Theatre and Mock Turtle presents Bill George’s DaPooch! or The Story of Poochie’s Three Hundred and Seventy Second Birthday and How the Hunga Munga Munga Saved His Life!
This one-man show with ukulele, songs, puppetry and plenty of participation by the children tells the story of a little rascal of a creature, DaPooch (and he’s not a dog!) who heads out on a birthday walk to encounter difficulties far beyond what one might wish for on one’s most significant and memorable birthday. Still, with the help of his animal friends, and his bestest friend of all–Iddy Biddy–he manages to escape the clutches of the most horrible Hunga Munga Munga and to return home safely.
This play for children, created for Mr. George’s five year old son’s birthday many a year ago, has delighted audiences for over two decades. Mr. George is considered one of Pennsylvania’s finest theatre artists, having received recognition nationally and internationally for his original creations. He is a founding member of Touchstone Theatre.

Saturday’s Child Valentine’s Show this Saturday!
Join us this Saturday for a Valentine’s Day program at the Icehouse.
Lehigh Valley Folk Music Society is again sharing the stage with their old friend and storyteller Charles Kiernan for a Valentine’s showcase of songs and stories. A workshop afterwards will be about the art of storytelling.
Storyteller Charles Kiernan, now retired from gainful employment, performs at theatres, listening clubs, schools, libraries, and arts festivals. He is also coordinator for the Lehigh Valley Storytelling Guild, Pennsylvania State Representative for the National Youth Storytelling Showcase, Pennsylvania State Liaison for the National Storytelling Network and recipient of the 2008 Individual Artist Award from the Bethlehem Fine Arts Commission.
Charles performs Americana stories, collectively labeled the “Lost Dollar” stories. This is a collection of Appalachian tales whose wisdom and humor is woven into the life of a little village stuck way back in the hills. The village is named “Lost Dollar” after the original settler’s mishap that caused him to stay there. The main industries seem to be the growing of apples and the catching of cat fish. Just ask about Uncle Willard’s Catfish!
All shows are at 10 am and are followed by a performing arts workshop!
