“The performance was a magical blend of live actors, larger-than-life puppets and music. I am honored to have been an evaluator of this fine project.”  – Myron Yoder, Curriculum Coordinator, Allentown Schools

Mock Turtle’s Early Reader Program for elementary schools includes:

1. A forty-five minute assembly program featuring our play,  Book, Beast, and Puppets. Through the magic of puppetry, storytelling, and audience participation, children learn just what makes books so wonderful and important.

2. A puppet-making workshop in which students make their own puppets dedicated to a choice of curricular lessons. Tools and materials are provided.

3. A standards-based script-writing lesson plan and worksheet allowing each student to participate in follow-up classroom activities.

“I have rarely seen an educational program that blends content and entertainment so well.” – Tom Gettings, Wildlands Conservancy

Location

As a field trip location, the IceHouse is one of the most varied in all of the Lehigh Valley. The site offers a fine playground, a picnic area and great walks along the canal tow path. In addition, there is plenty of parking for both cars and buses and easy access from Route 378.
