Residencies
Mock Turtle Marionettes has conducted over sixty artist-in-residency programs for the Pennsylvania, Delaware and New Jersey Councils on the Arts. During these engagements, we have explored dozens of ways puppetry can be employed as an educational tool in such academic areas as local history, science, health and creative writing. We have explored topics as diverse as ecosystems, Greek myths and drug and alcohol abuse.
Our residencies feature a cycle of educational activities. These include the construction of puppets, classes in script-writing and play production. In addition, our work in the schools places a high premium on culminating performances of student work. As a source of new learning for both the students and our instructors, we strive to include as many students as possible in our residency programs.
