Scouts

Scouts

Our two hour plus program is geared to meet most of the requirements of the various scout badges in theater and puppetry. The basic program includes the marionette show and the puppet-making workshop followed by a special back-stage tour and a workshop on presenting puppet shows. In addition, scout leaders receive a Mock Turtle “how to” for leading simple puppet performances. While all our programs for scouts revolve around this basic package, adjustments are made for different types of scouts.

Girl Scouts

Our workshops for younger scouts are inspired by theĀ  “Puppets, Dolls and Plays” section of The Brownie Try It Book. We generally make flowers, cats or lion puppets with this age group. The Theater Arts Badge is a well-defined process for 9-12 year old girls. Our badge workshop covers three of the five requirements and leads to a culminating show that supplies the final steps for the badge.

Boy Scouts

Designed entirely to bring out the ham in your Cubs, our four-part puppetry workshop supplies the basic tools for earning the Be An Actor elective. There’s no showman like a puppeteer and probably no better way to earn the showman’s badge than through puppetry. Puppets are a great way to get guys on stage without all the self-consciousness.

Fees: $7 per scout/ $5 per adult or siblings
